Instructions:

Prepare the Coffee Mixture for tiramisu:

  • In a shallow dish (9x13inches), combine the brewed espresso and coffee liqueur (if using). Set aside to cool completely.

Make the Mascarpone Cream:

  • In a bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy. Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then fold it into the mascarpone mixture.

Whip the Egg Whites:

  • In another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold them into the mascarpone mixture for a light and airy texture.

Assemble the Tiramisu:

  • Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they’re soaked but not soggy. Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a rectangular dish.
  • Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and top with the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  • Smooth the top and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.

Dust tiramisu with Cocoa:

  • Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with unsweetened cocoa powder for a classic finish.

Serving Tip 💡:

Serve your dessert chilled, with a cup of espresso or a glass of dessert wine. For an extra touch, garnish with chocolate shavings or a sprig of fresh mint on top.
